About the Center
The Center for Turning and Furniture Design focuses on wood as a medium for artistic research. Extensive and exceptional facilities allow for a wide range of interests to be served. In addition to the comprehensive skills of BA Harrington as faculty the program is enhanced by Resident Artist/Educators and a Director who facilitates funding and outreach. The Center is noted for its sponsorship of numerous lectures, workshops, residencies, and exhibitions. Undergraduate and Graduate degrees are available in fine arts. The Center grew out of the Woodworking and Furniture Design program begun in 1978 by Chris Weiland. In 2006, the Center began instruction in newly renovated studios.
